Good to hear from you, Marion, but also rather surprising. The only other post on the Forum was also from me, last July - 10 months ago. It was deliberately provocative, partly in the hope of getting the forum off to a good start, but also to assess whether people actually looked at the website. The only reply in all that time is from Dav Baulch, who created the website and obviously has an interest. My point is that communication Is fundamentally important in sustaining a lively community. Much of the social life of the village, in its heyday, emanated from the White Hart, but that is now closed. I have campaigned for some time for the a pro-active Forum, through the medium of email. In other words, sending information to villagers rather than hoping they will go looking for it. Because they don’t! A database exists, but of course there is a snag in the shape of privacy legislation. But this is not insoluble: it just needs those on the database to give their consent to its use. It could then be used for Parish Council, social committee (if it ever revives), and other groups to get their messages through to the community. Let‘s see if anyone else responds. It may be that there are plans to publicise this nearer the event, but just putting an announcement on the PC website won’t have much effect!
