Your Parish Councillors
Your Councillors are elected every 4 years and serve (unpaid) to represent and develop your community, they attend regular monthly meetings, training courses and represent the residents on other local bodies. By law, all members of the Council are required to complete a declaration of interest form, the details of which are published annually, which can be viewed in the Council Documents section of this website, here.
Daveran Baulch: Chairman
Cllr Daveran Baulch, resident of Meadow Drive, joined the Parish Council in October. Many will remember Dav from the WW1-themed stall at several village fetes, he is currently researching the parish war-dead for a presentation on the subject once Covid restrictions allow us all to congregate.
Dav and wife Vicky moved to Weston-In-Gordano, with their two daughters, from Nottingham in 2014, quickly integrating into village life and becoming active members of the community. firstname.lastname@example.org
David Down: Vice Chairman
David lives at Weston Lodge Farm. He has lived in the village since 1960, when as a child his parents took on the farm.
David runs the farm with his eldest son Keith. They milk 125 cows, selling over a million litres of milk per year. They also farm the Wild Life Trust land and rear beef cattle there, which are sold on contract to Tesco and Marks & Spencer. They also run an activity site, which has been on the farm since 1990.
David is married to Trish and they have 7 children between them, along with 10 grandchildren. David has always been keen to support our rural village life and has been a parish councillor for around 20 years.
Kevin has been in the local area since 1972, as a young man helping out on many of the local farms, where he fell in love with the village and pub, forging life long friendships.
After returning from Gabon in West Africa, where he worked in construction in the jungle oil fields, he built his own home in Cadbury Lane in 1993, where he still lives with his wife Philippa.
As a local builder and ground worker with his own machines you will quite often see him working in the surrounding area. Kevin has two grown up children both brought up in the village and three grand children.
Joining the Parish Council in November is Cllr Lucy Luton, resident of Moor View with her husband James and little cocker spaniel Darcie. Lucy, an accomplished piano and singing teacher, leads the Little Lights Gospel Choir with Rev. Martin Little in our village church.
Lucy’s background in behavioural psychology is at the core of her corporate success, not only owning her own personal development consultancy, specialising in corporate anxiety, but also working in the field of people development internationally for big names such as engineering giant James Dyson.
Becky joined the PC in May 2021 after being elected by the local constituents.
Becky lives in the heart of the village at Kama and is passionate about the rural countryside, wildlife and the environment. She has a BSc in Equine Science. Becky gives up a lot of her spare time volunteering for environmental and animal welfare charities.
Feeling part of a community is important to her and she is a member of the Social Committee and Gardening Club. Re-designing and restoring her garden to its former glory is an ongoing project and she values all advice and feedback from all gardeners in the village!
