"Theft at our church"

Updated: Apr 2, 2021

"We thought you should be aware that the village church suffered a

minor theft this Monday, 01 February. As usual, the church had been

left open for anyone who wanted to visit, so it was disheartening for

us to find that “persons unknown” had stolen all the pens and

keyring torches on sale by the War Memorial within the church. We

think the small wall safe, beside the main door, was also raided, but

not damaged.

All the keys to cupboards were also taken from a key safe in the

Vestry, so we will need to replace these locks and padlocks.

No damage has been caused, other than for us to wonder why

anyone should steal goods, any goods whatever the value, and

besmirch the trust we place on people.

The pens and torches had “St Peter & St Paul” printed on them, so

beware anyone offering our goods at a bargain price!!

We also understand a church in Clevedon has had a collection box

broken into with the contents being stolen.

Despite this upset the church will remain open for people to visit,

whether for private contemplation, or to avail themselves of the

Village Library.

Please take care, everyone, there are light fingered gentry about.

John Bridges"
